TL;DR
There were a total of five Aquas in anime—surprisingly not many when you fix the criteria at being featured in anime, being human, and having the name Aqua.

Quick Anime History

Anime has been around for over a century now, a fact that is quite surprising. According to historical records (and Wiki), the one of the first verifiable Japan-made anime films date back to 1917. While these early films likely had limited frames, lacked color and fan service, they mark the inception of the anime medium.

The introduction of color to anime came in 1958 with the production of "The Tale of the White Serpent" (白蛇伝), created by Toei Animation in collaboration with the now-closed Mushi Production, the same company that at the time of writing (and likely forever after) produces One Piece.

Aquas In Anime

Now back to today given the extensive history of anime, it's inevitable for characters to share names, even those with Latin origins, like "Aqua." In Latin, the word "aqua" translates to "water; the sea; rain." How many anime characters named Aqua can you think of? (Excluding manga characters.)

Short pause to let you think about all the blue hair anime characters you know...[insert elevator BGM]

If you managed to come up with more than one, congratulations, you've beaten the author! There aren't actually that many characters named Aqua when you narrow the criteria: they must be from anime, their actual name has to be Aqua (not a power form of sorts), and they must be human. While there are many similar derivatives like Aquamarine, Aquarius, Aquaman..., here are five-ish Aquas who have actually been featured in anime.

No. 1 Aqua Regina - Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch (2003)

The first Aqua we found featured in anime.

No. 3 Dark Aqua - Yes! Pretty Cure 5 the Movie: The Mirror Kingdom's Miraculous Adventure! (2007)

This is a bit of stretch since her full name is Dark Aqua...

Well Known Non-anime or Almost Aquas

We wouldn't blame you if you thought of one of these "Aquas", as they are also very well-known, but they didn't quite fit our criteria.

Aqua Minato (湊あくあ) - Hololive VTuber

Aqua began her career in August 2018, she is a maid and wears a marine-themed maid uniform and possesses a mostly childish personality.

Aqua Hoshino (星野 アクア) - Oshi no Ko

One of the blockbusters of 2023 spring anime season currently await season two. One of the main characters and sadly his full name is Aquamarine Hoshino.

Sum Up

One thing is for sure, no one is going to have a name like "Jugemu Jugemu Unko Nage Ki..." Well, it might be easier to show:
